The Indira Gandhi National Open University has released admission notification for admission to Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programs (OPENNET) for the academic year January 2024. The university has invited applications from eligible applicants for admission to Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programmes by appearing in an opennet entrance test (OPENNET for the academic session 2024.
The admission to bscn(pb) will be done by going through an entrance examination (OPENNET which is to be conducted on 24th November 2023. After appearing and passing in an entrance test (OPENNET), candidates will get admission in Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programmes – BSCN(PB) which will start from January 2024 session. This opennet entrance exam is for January 2024 cycle.

About POST BASIC B.SC NURSING PROGRAMME :
It is a 3 year degree programme for in-service diploma holder Nurses. This discipline is approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The need for this was felt because the pace of providing higher education to operating nurses was terribly slow because of shortage of faculties of Nursing and scarcity of seats available in every at that point.

Ignou BSCN(PB) OPENNET Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for BSCN(PB) OPENNET Entrance exam, should have In-service Nurses i.e. Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with 3 years, Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 2 years experience (after registration as RNRM) in the profession. (For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme, should have a certificate in any of the Nursing courses of 6-9 months duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery)

In-service Nurses (RNRM) having 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with 3 year Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience (after registration as RNRM) in the profession
** Candidates with less than 2 years of experience after RNRM should not apply.
Age of Admission : As per admission notification, there is no maximum age limit. The minimum of instructions is in English.
Duration of BSCN(PB) Programme : The minimum duration of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programme is 3 years. However, eligible candidates are given a maximum period of 5 years to complete the programme from the date of registration. If date of registration is expired, candidates have to apply for re-admission paying the required fee for each incomplete course of theory and practical components.
No. of BSCN(PB) Seats : The number of seats as approved by INC for admission to IGNOU Post Basic B.Sc Nursing Programme varies from PSC to PSC. We will update no. of approved seats as get updated at official website.

As per prospectus, the admission will be made once in a year for in-service nurses. After passing the BSCN(PB) OPENNET entrance exam, eligible applications should be submitted in prescribed form (OPENNET) so as to reach concerned/opted IGNOU Regional Centre where PSC for Post Basic BSc Nursing are located before the due date. The Walk in Admission for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme for January, 2024 session will be done on the basis of merit in common entrance test. Regional Centres, where Post Basic B.Sc (N), Programme Study Centres are established will do the counselling and admissions.

IGNOU BSCN(PB) OPENNET Prospectus 2024 can be obtained from the Director SSC IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 and from all the Regional Centres of IGNOU by paying a amount of Rs 1050/- via Demand Draft (DD)/IPO in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi / City of concerned Regional Centre or can also be obtained by paying the amount of Rs 1000/- in cash at the respective sale Counters.
